On 7 May 2013, at the Freie Universität in Berlin, the 25th Franco-German Economic and Financial Council took place. Pierre Moscovici, Minister of Economy and Finance, his German counterpart, Wolfgang Schäuble, and the directors of the central banks of both countries took stock of efforts made in favour of growth and stability. In his speech , the French minister underlined the key role of Franco-German relations: "These should be fully focused on the single objective of making the Eurozone, within Europe, the centre of growth. " He insisted on the reorganisation of public finances and the construction of a banking union, together tools intended to "better anticipate, control and manage risks, and prevent a financial crisis from becoming a budget crisis and, subsequently, economic crisis". This Economic Council also resulted in a meeting with the Franco-German Office for Youth (OFAJ) concerning the contribution of Franco-German relations on European construction. The next Franco-German Economic and Financial Council will be held in the Autumn of 2013 in Paris.
