Facebook continues its progression in on-line advertising. The group led by Mark Zuckerberg announced that its number of "active" monthly advertisers rose to 2 million in February 2015 as compared to 1.5 [million] in July 2014. The Reuters press agency reported a rise in attendance on the social network of 33% in 8 months.
The deputy director of Facebook, Sheryl Sandberg, indicated that the majority of advertisers purchasing advertising space, in order to be present on the Timeline of the social network, were SMEs.
She reminds us that 30 million TPEs have their own Facebook page. Therefore, among the advertisers recruited by Facebook, 80% launced with a sponsored advertisement during the last quarter of 2014.
This trend is explained by the very accessible prices: 5 to 50 dollars per day for an advertising space.
One notes that in the sector of on-line advertising, Facebook took market share from Google. In effect, according to the firm eMarketeur, the Mountain View firm recorded a 31.1% market share as compared to 33,6% en 2014, as Facebook went from a 5.8 to 7.8 % market share between 2013 and 2014.
Moreover, the personalised advertising campaigns of Facebook are 70% more effective for advertisers than a simple product placement. To allow it to measure the efficiency of their campaigns on all multimedia supports, the social network launches, in the month of September 2015, a new version of its Atlas platform.
