From 1 February 2014, only SEPA European payments and debits will be authorised. All services concerned within the company should prepare for SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) migration which makes provision for generalisation at European level of the unique bank identification number (IBAN).
To pay or receive SEPA payments, as well as to pay by direct debit, you will need to have (or your creditors will require) the corresponding IBAN and BIC code(s).
To be paid by SEPA, it is necessary to be issued by your bank a unique SEPA creditor number (ICS) as well as having the debtor IBAN and BIC codes. You will also need a mandate signed by your clients (unless you already have a direct debit authorisation which will be valid). And the attribution of a Unique Mandate Reference will be required (RUM).
Moreover, before making a payment, you should - at least 14 days before the due date - indicate to your client the date of payment, the amount, your ICS and the RUM attributed to the mandate.
