Since 2011, the ancillary work in conventional or legal mediation by Bailiffs has been authorised (decree no. 2011-1173 of 23 September 2011). To allow them to become mediators, the National Chamber of Bailiffs (CNHJ) has announced the opening of a Mediation Centre by the end of 2013.
All citizens can then submit requests for mediation. The purpose of this centre is "to offer citizens a centre capable of handling their disputes by submitting these to Mediator Bailiffs who are members of the CMJH and by ensuring administrative supervision of their matters", according to J-D. Lachkar, president of the CNJH.
