Public agreements: the electronic invoicing directive is published on the JOUE

Directive 2014/55/EU of 16 April 2014 pertaining to electronic billing in the framework of public tenders has been published on the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) on 6 May 2014. Member States have until 27 November 2018 to transpose the provisions of this directive which implements a unique standard for electronic billing in the framework of computerisation of public markets.
Falling in the framework of the "Digital Strategy" of the European Union, this directive is intended to promote better interoperability of national markets (uniform presentation of information pertaining to public calls for tenders), an " improved legal security", and "allowing Member States, local authorities, awarding bodies and economic stakeholders to generate substantial profits in terms of incidental economies on the environment and the reduction of administrative costs".
