Three decrees pertaining to training of notary publics published on the Official Journal on 22 August 2013

The first decree sets forth the list of diplomas accepted in dispensation for the national master's degree in law for the profession of notary public. Consequently, and in continuity of decree no. 2013-215 of 13 March 2013, different degrees equivalent to a 2 year Master programme (Baccalaureate plus 5 years of further study) will be accepted in the legal, economic, accounting and management functions. These measures shall become effective as at 1 January 2014.

The second decree sets for the terms and conditions for selection of matters for accessing notary public professional training centres. In addition to the administrative documents to be provided for the application, the decree states that on 15 July of each year, the establishment shall list all candidates accepted for interview. This is then organised in each professional training centre, at the very latest, on 15 September of each year. Finally, the list of candidates accepted will be displayed by the latest on the final working day of September of each year.

The third decree sets forth the terms and conditions for examination by modules and the placement report with a view to obtaining the degree for the role of notary public. Training issued in professional training centres for notary publics is organised in six modules, divided over a total period of thirty one months. Each of these is then the subject of a written exam (4 hours) and oral exam. The placement report then completes the training and is supported before a board of examiners.
