Public purchasing observatory: publication of observations over 2012

According to observations by the Observatory, the share of SMEs in public purchasing increased in 2012. Indeed, a total of 41.7% of amounts of contracts concluded with the local authorities concerned SMEs (39.5% in 2011). General public purchasing activities are down. The State, local authorities and network operators have reduced the volume of orders by 8% and the total amount of contracts have fallen by 8.3%. Indeed, these crossed the threshold of 103,185 contracts in 2012 for a total amount of 75.5 billion euros. In 2011, 112,213 contracts had been concluded for a total amount of 82.3 billion euros.
