Bpifrance launches a new investment fund for SMEs

To boost small SMEs in their growth, Bpifrance has launched a new investment fund entitled "France Investissement Régions 3". A total of 40 million euros are destined for "small tickets", namely investments with a value of between 150,000 and 500,000 euros.
This fund is released in the form of convertible bonds with a due date of 5 to 7 years. This is indeed the time that is estimated as being necessary for company directors to reimburse these bonds without seeing a new shareholder enter into the capital. The objective of Bpifrance is to encourage minority holdings in circa 80 small family companies with a minimum turnover of 2 million euros. 12,000 companies may be eligible for this mechanism (independent SMEs, excluding the financial sector).
Bpifrance is therefore counting on filling a shortcoming in the investment capital market, which banks too little on small stakeholders given the costs required for analysis and consultancy. To benefit from this "France Investissement Régions 3" mechanism, it is necessary to directly contact the regional directorate of Bpifrance in your area.
