Support for exporting companies: a European information platform

Exports by European countries internationally is a major challenge for the European Commission. To assist small structures to identify support from which they can benefit, the latter posted online in June 2014 an information platform in the form of a web portal named "SME Internationalisation Portal". It lists local and international public bodies likely to support directors of SMEs in their work. In France, Ubifrance and Bpifrance (formerly OSEO) are for instance listed.

Within the portal, the following information is proposed:

  • Contact name and information of the support bodies which can assist companies in starting commercial relations with the countries which they target.
  • Links leading to other European or local information sources concerning aid and consultancy for companies.

This European portal is fuelled by a free and public database. Initially, data coming from a Dutch report on support services for SMES in international trade ordered by the European Commission (Study on Support Services for SMEs in International Business). The support bodies themselves may request to be listed within this portal which will be developed on the database over time. Today, 25 countries outside of the EU located across five continents are integrated into this list, and across five continents.
